Lookout Rock, Northbridge MA

Lookout Rock, also known as King Phillip rock, is part of the Blackstone River and Canal Heritage State Park.  Since it is close to home, this is a favorite short hike for my family.  We generally start out from the parking area on Hartford Ave in Uxbridge and follow the King Phillips trail about one mile to the overlook.  You go through a pine forest on a well marked trail, eventually coming to the overlook from which you get view of the Blackstone River from Northbridge to Uxbridge.  The view is most spectacular in the fall during peak foliage and I will be sure to update this post in the fall with some photos!

If you prefer not to hike to the rock, parking is also available off Quaker Street in Northbridge.

For more details and a trail map, please visit the Blackstone River and Canal Heritage State Park website.

And finally, an old bridge… can’t wait to come back and take pictures of this in the fall!
